[Offstage] Cho Gi-Seok

We’re back with a new Offstage and this time we’re taking a closer look at photographer Cho Gi-Seok. This isn’t the first time we’re featuring a Korean photographer, we’ve already written about Kim Hee-June, Kimmoondog and Park Jiwoo.

Photography and Fashion

Cho Gi-Seok is both a photographer and he launched fashion brand KUSIKOHC. The new collection is super artistic.

But let’s take a look at the photography section of his work. Like DAZED put it in words “His otherworldly portraits – distinctive for their vibrant colours and recurring motifs of bodies, flowers, butterflies, and technology – depict humanity in perfect balance with natural and artificial elements. Whether it’s faces enshrined in orchids, prosthetic android limbs entwined in wires blooming with petals, or naked bodies sprouting smartphones or USB cables, there’s something both utopian and dystopian about the Korean-born photographer’s beautifully composed works.”

I am absolutely in love with this series.

He shot the pictures for CL’s ‘Alpha’ comeback.

Cho Gi-Seok also directed the video for ‘Post Up’ by CL.
