Ode To The Artist: Eric Nam

We’re back with a new Ode To The Artist, this time putting the spotlight on Eric Nam. He’s been very busy with his podcast ‘The Daebak Show’, where he invites artists big and small to have a chat. He’s also an incredible musician! So let’s take a closer look.

Debut

Eric Nam had his start in the entertainment industry with his participation in ‘Star Audition: Birth of a Great Star 2’ in 2011. He ended up in the Top 5 and signed with the agency B2M Entertainment.

His official debut was in 2013 with the EP ‘Cloud 9’ and the title track ‘Heaven’s Door’.

From about 2013 to 2016 he was one of the hosts of ‘After School Club’. In the show he was able to use both his English and his Korean as he’s originally from Georgia, Atlanta in the US.

Eventually he left to be able to focus more on his music career.

In 2014, he released his single ‘Ooh Ooh’ featuring HOYA from the group INFINITE and the Christmas single ‘Melt My Heart’.

The year after, he came out with the singles ‘I’m OK’ and ‘DREAM’.

His collaboration with Red Velvet’s Wendy on the SM Station song ‘Spring Love’ was a big hit.

‘INTERVIEW’ was his first EP that came out in 2016.

That year was quite busy as he also collaborated on three more singles with artists like Loco, Timbaland and KOLAJ.

One of my favorite singles by him is his collaboration project with Gallant and Tablo from Epik High. This song is just so unbelievably smooth.

His single with CHEEZE is also really cute.

He also created a single together with SOMI.

‘Honestly’

Eric Nam dropped his second EP ‘Honestly’ in 2018. This is such a lovely EP with some straight-up bangers. The closing track ‘Don’t call me’ was on my daily rotation for a hot minute.

A couple months later, the single ‘Miss you’ came out.

His first album ‘Before We Begin came out in 2019 and it is filled with bops like ‘Runaway’ and ‘You’re Sexy, I’m Sexy’.

After that, in 2020, he released his third EP ‘The Other Side’ with the amazing track ‘Paradise’.

Last week, he dropped his pre-release single ‘I don’t know you anymore’ ahead of his upcoming album.

Overall, Eric Nam has been building a pretty solid name for himself. He seems like a genuinely cool person to chat with and his music is pop at its best with fantastic vocals.

Go ahead and follow him on Instagram. You can find his Spotify profile here.
