MV Recommendation: Crush – Lay Your Head On Me

This is the first of this weekly series. In Music Video Recommendation Of The Week, our journalists will write about a music video that they love and want to share with you. It could be a new release or something that has been out for ages but they keep going back to.

For the first edition, I will write about the video for Lay Your Head On Me by Crush.

Crush – Lay Your Head On Me

First of all, the song is so soothing. When you look up the lyrics, it is basically a comforting shoulder for his fans. Because sometimes, times are just hard and you need someone to lean on. If you don’t have that, maybe this song could be enough.

In his words: ‘And I know when days are dark and you drown in everything, And I know you try to numb cause’ you don’t wanna’ feel a thing, You know you can, Lay your head on me’.

The video itself, is not spectacular in the sense that tons of things happen. No, it’s not like that at all. He’s just walking or running. That’s it. But the way everything has been shot and edited, makes this one of my favourite videos.

It features a lot of double exposure, a lot of gorgeous skylines and views. The colours are all soft and soothing with the only stand-out colour being yellow. The yellow keeps coming back with it being the road markings, the flowers and most importantly, the yellow names at the bottom of the video.

He’s basically thanking everyone who has helped bring him where he is today, everyone that stood by him, everyone important.

I believe the yellow road markings, are meant to represent the people that led him out of the dark and into the sunrise.

Overall, I don’t think this video is re-inventing music videos but, nonetheless it’s a beautiful one to watch.
