IZ*ONE is back with their brand new mini-album ‘Oneiric Diary’, and as usual this girl group is delivering fabulous tunes and stunning visuals. Let’s dive right into this release.
Oneiric Diary
‘Welcome’ starts off this release with a fairytale-like track and vocals. It feels like the opening for a charming fantasy program, and I personally liked how innocent, angelic and calm this intro is.
The title track ‘Secret Story of the Swan’ starts off with electronic beats and develops into a dance-pop song with great beat drop and a really cool flow that enhances the members vocals. IZ*ONE members are incredible vocalists and their sound in this track is just super cool. Below you can watch their kick-ass performance video. The music video was pushed back a day, so it should be released tomorrow.
With a way more bubblegum K-pop style and happy pop tunes is ‘Pretty’, this song screams summer release with its cheerful beats and colourful flow. I am a fan of how balanced this track is, it is not bubblegum and not regular pop, and rather a nice mix of beats and playful sounds.
‘Merry-Go-Round’ begins with a disco inspired beat that had me shook and super excited, this track feels quite groovy and the vocals are on point. It definitely shows a new side of this girl group and I’m loving it.
Electronic beats start ‘Rococo’ and this song develops flawlessly into a pop song with house music elements that I totally dig. The high notes were flawless and the addition of the flute toward the end was unexpected but fantastic.
Wiz*ones are gifted with the amazing ballad ‘With*One’ is. This song displays the powerful voices of this girl group with a lyrical delivery that felt emotional and heartfelt. In one word astonishing.
The last two tracks of this mini-album are the Japanese versions of the title track and ‘Merry-Go-Round’.
