MONSTA X‘s Kihyun came out with his first solo single album ‘Voyager’. I’m super stoked. I feel like I’ve been waiting for this for forever. The teasers looked absolutely incredible. I’m expecting killer vocals.
‘Voyager‘ is the title track and comes accompanied by a music video. We’re getting a pop rock version of Kihyun and it is INSANE. I am in love with the groove, the power and the funky piano in the back. The track is so well layered! I desperately need a live version of this.
After that we get ‘COMMA’. Kihyun co-wrote the track. I love how he goes from powerful to super soft vocals. He continues on with the pop rock sound though this is a bit softer than ‘Voyager’. They played with the tension in the track so well. I love it.
‘RAIN’ is the closing track. This is the kind of song I was waiting for. Powerful vocals and lots of emotions that will have me shook. I LOVE the build up in the chorus. Ugh, absolute vocal king.
‘Voyager’ is a great first single album by Kihyun. I cannot wait to see what kind of direction he takes his solo works. The pop rock vibe fits him so incredibly well. I kind of hope he does a jazz number at one point.
