K-Music Time Capsule: TVXQ! – Mirotic

With K-Music Time Capsule we’re trying to introduce some iconic artists to the newer K-pop fans. This time I’m talking about TVXQ! with legendary song ‘Mirotic’.

‘Mirotic’ was released in 2008 and was still with all of the original members. It immediately became a hit because TVXQ! was already hugely popular at that time, having debuted in 2003.

The Korean Commission of Youth Protection however, wasn’t such a big fan. They deemed the lyrics ‘I’ve got you under my skin’ too sexual for people under 19. So the CD’s had to come with a warning sticker and any broadcast of the song had to be scheduled after 10PM.

S.M. Entertainment released a clean version of ‘Mirotic’ with the lyrics changed to ‘I’ve got you under my sky’. If you want to read the full story, click here.

Here’s that iconic video (do be warned the quality isn’t exactly 4k)

TVXQ! re-debuted with 2 members and they’re still making music. Take a look at their latest comeback.

If you want to hear more take a look at their Spotify.
