K-INDIE CHART – OCTOBER

We’re back with our latest look at the October K-Indie Chart. We’re super curious to see which albums ended up in the top 10!

There are only erally two new additions to this month’s top 10 and that’s the vocal duo OKDAL with ’28’ and soloist Ha Hyun Woo with ‘Anti Ego’.

Surprisingly ’28’ was released in 2011 and ‘Anti Ego’ in 2022. It goes to show that people discover tracks to love at any point in time. And that just because a song doesn’t fly on release date that it won’t ever.

Let’s take a look!

OKDAL – 28

This album starts with a forty second piano intro. ‘Dalmoon’ doesn’t really have actual lyrics, it’s more vibes and beautiful instrumentation. This is one of my favorite tracks of the album, just because it feels like it stepped out of the ‘Amelie Poulain’ movie.

’28’ feels like a whimsical step back in time without sounding old. The album still feels fresh and no doubt relatable for any 28-year-old.

Personal stand-outs are ‘Dalmoon’, ‘Nothing lasts forever’ and ‘Cheer up’.

Listen to the album here.

Ha Hyun Woo – Anti Ego

Ha Hyun Woo from Gukkasten released this solo EP in 2022. The opening to the title track ‘My Enemy’ gave me chills. The different layering is so well done and a credit to Ha’s talent.

I’m obsessed with the drama of this album. The instrumentals like the cello or the horn all just elevated the level of class.

If you have 22 minutes to spare, definitely give this full EP a listen here.
