N.Flying
We’re back with another amazing K-cover, and this week we’re featuring N.Flying‘s cover of ‘Gurenge‘ (紅蓮華) by LiSA. Those boys can sing, and this song is such a banger. Perfect fit.
In case you’ve been living under the same rock as me, N.Flying is a rap rock band that debuted in 2013. Well, in Japan; they debuted in Korea one and a half year later, in 2015. Their big breakthrough came in 2019 though, with their hit song ‘Rooftop‘. I’m surprised and a bit ashamed to admit they flew under my radar for so long, since I like a lot of bands with a similar style, but here we are.
Now, you should know they do a lot of covers. And while their vocals are on point every single time, I enjoy their covers of rock Japanese anime songs the most. Lucky for me, they seem to have a soft spot for that type of song, and their Japanese pronunciation is great too.
LiSA- Gurenge
LiSA is a Japanese alt rock singer- songwriter and musician. She’s especially famous among anime fans, as she’s written opening songs for multiple popular series. Her voice can go from soft and melodic to rock goddess, and her music is intense and explosive, and it’s just brilliant. I love her style as well, she’s clearly has her own aesthetic and just goes with it. She has range, and hits some long highs, which raises the stakes for anyone attempting a cover.
‘Gurenge‘ is the opening song to one of the best anime series to come out in 2019, ‘Demon Slayer‘, and a perfect example of why LiSA songs are difficult to cover (well). Listen to the arrangement these guys did -such an amazing job!
