Half of the summer is already gone so we’re back with our July Korean Indie DisKovery feature. It’s been a busy month of trying to relax as much as possible before we have to start going back to work. Let’s check out some of my favorite releases of the past month.
Week 1
Sunwashere came out with ‘Night Swimming’. The single feels so delightfully nostalgic. It’s perfect for a summer evening.
‘LOVE SONG IN THE RAIN’ by Blue315 is a wonderful jazz number. The guitar has a very long intro but it is so well played that I can’t feel bad about it. About halfway through the song the rest of the instrumentals and vocals come in and it’s absolutely brilliant.

Lee Jung In came out with ‘a sea of migrants’ on his new EP ‘My Stagnation’. The title track is a bit psychedelic before it slides into a wonderful rock segment. It’s dope.

Week 2
6Band is back with the single ‘Banana Yum Yum’. It’s fun, crazy and goes surprisingly hard. I’m very much a fan of this.
Wild Tunas released the album ‘Introvert’ with the title track ‘Crossroad Blues’. I particularly liked the laidback ‘Stay With Me’ and ‘Under The Moon’ for that cool guitar solo.
Kim Marie came out with the pop rock track ‘Fly’. I dig the instrumental, I enjoy the vocals and overall I’m a fan of her discography.
Week 3
Dori came out with her EP ‘Underwater’. This one is so much fun!
Soombee released the beautiful single ‘Water’. I like how the build up feels so organic. It is such an incredible indie rock track.
Summer of thoughts dropped a whole album. There are so many amazing features on the album like Kim Sawol, Kang Asol, Kwon Wol, Kim Ildu and more.
Week 4
VelvetHeroin is a newcomer to the indie scene. His new rock single is pretty awesome.
JongYeon slows things down with his single ‘My Blue Tide’. It’s soft and beautiful.
Jiyul really blessed us with this track ‘Dry Flower’. It’s very bluesy and has some stunning instrumentals. Her singing style reminds me of Yerin Baek a little.
That was it for this July Korean Indie DisKovery. I hope you found some new artists to discover and support. See you next month!
