[Indie Pick] Wona

We’re back with a new Indie Pick and this time we really wanted to take a closer look at the discography of electronic artist Wona. Let’s jump in!

Debut

Wona debuted in 2020 with the full-length album ‘Thanatoid Butterfly’. I love it when artists immediately come to the scene with a full album.

This was written in the album description: “Wona’s debut album, which has been prepared for a long time, creates a virtual space for a narrative based on the sharp sound of repetition and equal rhythm. In this album, Wona boldly uses the sound obtained by exploring sounds in various areas of electronic music, such as techno and trip hop, and uses it as the most suitable tool to fragmentally unravel events that occurred.”

The music major really did a fantastic job. ‘Thanatoid Butterfly’ is an experience to listen to. It’s one of those releases where you completely lose yourself while listening. It crawls under the skin.

A couple of months later Wona released the remix version of her debut album, with the new title ‘Resurrected butterfly’.

She also released the single ‘Gasi’. In the album intro she mentions that she wrote this track when she felt like she had become stagnant as a musician.

Her first release of 2022 was with her participation the new duo Stainus. The EP ‘MORPH’

The first time Wona appeared on my radar was with the single album ‘Too many jellies’. I was totally mesmerized and loved the vibe she was putting out.

Last month Wona came out with her second full-length album ‘Happy Trippy Creepy’.

You can find her on Spotify here.
