[Indie Pick] Peterpan Complex

For our latest Indie Pick, we’re writing about the four member band Peterpan Complex. I featured them briefly in the tenth installment of Korean Indie/Rock Bands, so feel free to check that out as well.

Peterpan Complex consists of the band members Lee Chi Won, Kim Kyoung In, Jun Ji Han and Kim In Geun. Right now they are signed under MANSION106.

The Start

The band started in 2000 with only Jun Ji Han from the current line-up. The other members eventually changed into the ones the band has today. The band was formed on campus and in 2001 they won the grand prize at the Soyosan Rock Festival for their song ‘Jawihaengwi’.

They officially debuted with the EP ‘First-Person Protagonist Perspective’ though sadly that one isn’t on Spotify.

Listen to one of the songs on that EP because it goes hard:

In 2003 they released the EP ‘2-0.5’.

Their third full-length album ‘I’m A beautiful man’ came out in 2006. Listen to them live.

They kept on releasing music steadily until 2008, when they went on a three year hiatus. Peterpan Complex came back with a more electronic sound in 2011.

With their new sound they managed to catch my interest and I’ve been frequently going back to their discography from then.

Here’s a sample.

They also worked on the soundtrack of the 2020 film ‘Baseball Girl’. If you’re curious, we’ve watched it and the review for this film is coming out here in a couple of weeks, so stay tuned for that.

You can find their discography here on Spotify. You can follow them on Instagram here.
