[Indie Pick] PARKJIWOO

We’re back with a new Indie Pick and this time we’re taking a closer look at PARKJIWOO. She’s a new talent on the Indie scene, but I have high hopes for her.

Debut

PARKJIWOO debuted on March of this year with the single ‘Happiness or Sadness’. It immediately struck me by its gripping lyrics and her beautiful vocal tone. The simplicity of the instrumental allows for full focus on the storytelling. It feels like a confessional. I also featured it in our March Korean Indie DisKovery.

“But I don’t know
when you will be happy
I remember all the moments
when you follow my breath
And I remember all your habits
even if it’s your complex”

A couple of months later PARKJIWOO blessed us with the original soundtrack for the highly popular series ‘Nevertheless’. ‘Whisper’ is another stunning song that helps create a haunting ambience.

The single that completely convinced me was ‘Already Know’. The warmth of the guitar adds so much to the track. I am also obsessed with the vocal warping and layering. It’s absolutely lovely.

Her most recent comeback was the single ‘Silence’

Overall

I think PARKJIWOO has a very bright future ahead of her. She has the lyrical talent and she arranges and composes her own music. I’m very impressed by her style and I’m sure I’m not the only one.

You can find her on Instagram here and on Spotify here
