EP Review: OnlyOneOf – ‘sun line goodness’

OnlyOneOf has been on my radar since their debut. They dropped two music videos that were stunning so I kept replaying them.

Here they are:

Now they’re finally back for their first comeback! OnlyOneOf dropped their EP: ‘Line Sun Goodness’ on Thursday. It has six songs, so let’s take a look at all of them.

Sage’ is the first song and also the title track. The pre-chorus had me shook. It’s pretty much the only upbeat song of the EP.

The music video is gorgeous. Also take a look at some of the lyrics:

‘Mad, we’re mad, mad
I’m confessing my sins
My eyes are blinded with the endless eternity
I see myself,
Seeping in
Dead’

The next track is ‘Time Machine’. It’s a very soft pop song and it just has a special place in my heart.

We up the intensity in the next song ‘bOss’. The little whistle is super seductive and you should see the dance moves from the chorus.

Desert’ is the fourth track of ‘Line Sun Goodness’ and it’s a tall glass of water. It’s so smooth I didn’t realize I needed this in my life. I’m a big fan of their soft vocal timbres.

Number five is ‘Heartbreak Terminal’. One of the first upbeat songs of the EP, though only for the first half. I love the fact that the last couple of seconds are literally sounds you could hear when you’re getting on the bus. I was quite confused at first, but then I made the connection with the title.

‘OnlyOneOf Me’ is beautiful and kind of haunting. They sing ‘Focus on me, there’s only one of me’. The belting, layered vocals and harmonization made me add this to my playlist after the first listen.

Overall, I really enjoyed this EP. It fits in perfectly with the soft alternative pop the boys have been going for. I can’t wait to see how they grow and develop as artists. Especially because some of the members were involved in the composing and arranging of the songs.

Go give them a follow on Twitter.
