Album Review: Super Junior – Timeless (the 9th album repackage)

Super Junior just dropped the repackaged version of their 9th studio album ‘Time Slip’. ‘Timeless’ is the name of this release and I just have to mention how appropriate the title of this album is. Super Junior is indeed timeless.

Let’s start off with the title song for ‘Timeless’, ‘2YA2YAO!’ a total bop that left me shook with the visuals in its music video. I totally stan rapper Siwon, however, my highlight was Eunhyuk’s verses, he totally owned it. Big shout out to the styling team, the members’ visuals were served and I just cannot say who looked better. Check it for yourself.

The Crown’ is next and this song took me by surprise, the vocals are on point! Shindong’s rap is fire and the members’ harmonization towards the end goes hard and I loved it, vocal kings!

Third we have ‘Ticky Tocky’ and this one is owned by the vocal line. Ryeowook, Kyuhyun and Yesung’s voices are breathtaking in this song. They hit the notes flawlessly and I’m here for it.

This track is followed by ‘Shadow’, Donghae’s intro with Siwon’s vocals gave me all the feels, and the soft electronic vibe throughout this track is flawless, completely loved it.

Super Clap’ is the fifth track, and this one was the title track of the original album. I feel like this song in particular screams Super Junior in every single second. The music video is so ‘them’ that I really enjoy watching every second of it (If you have followed or seen SJ previous releases you know what I mean).

SUJU’s ‘I Think I’ was one of the first releases for the original album. When this one was released last October two things were stuck in my mind. Firstly, I absolutely loved the latin rhythm in this song, and secondly, Heechul and Leeteuk’s visuals in the music video were on point. Check it yourself, and you will understand.

Game’ is seventh and whenever I heard this song for the first time I knew that Eunhyuk had a part in the writing of the lyrics. I personally feel that it has got the vibe of a D&E release but with all the Super Junior members. Simply amazing!

The vibe of this repackaged album changes with ‘Somebody New’. This ballad got me so emotional, the members did an amazing job delivering the lyrics and the music video is just so heartfelt and honest. It is Super Junior being themselves and it brought back so many memories.

Skydive’ lightens the mood with its catchiness and pop vibe, and it was needed after the previous song. ‘Heads Up’ follows it with a more electronic style, I particularly liked the vocals in this song, and how they were mixed with every single section in the track.

The ‘Stay with me’ intro with Donghae and Siwon’s vocals was something I didn’t know I needed but I’m in. This song is super soft, I just have to say “Yes, I’ll stay”.

Rock Your Body’ is going to definitely be added to my workout playlist, this track goes hard and it builds up continuously. It is an actual adrenaline shot, just under 4 min.

In a complete change of mood, ‘No Drama’ is the 13th track of this album. It feels like a chill ballad, Leeteuk’s vocals were on point in this track and I really liked the 90’s ballad vibe.

Show’ closes this album repackage, and it took me by surprise with its drama soundtrack style. The guitar solo in the middle is flawless, and I just have to say that while listening to this song I couldn’t stop imagining the members with the ‘Sorry Sorry’ concept. I think it fits the style of this song.

If there is something that I absolutely love about Super Junior, it is how diverse their music is and how they aren’t afraid to explore new styles. They are ‘Timeless’ and I’m looking forward to more music from this 2nd gen idol group.
