Album Review: PENTAGON – UNIVERSE: The Black Hall

Pentagon just released their first full length album ‘Universe: The Black Hall’. Unfortunately Yanan isn’t part of this comeback because of health issues.

‘Universe: The Black Hall’

The first track is also their title track with ‘Dr. BeBe’. I was really shook by the MV because good lord! Take a look for yourself.

The song’s a complete bop, 100% certified banger. I have so many questions. Are they in the ghetto? (if you don’t get it, look at this) Is Dr. BeBe a certified doctor? I also think they referenced ‘The Lovers’ a painting by René Magritte, but that’s just a theory though.

Then we get thrown into ‘Asteroid’, which starts off as a very chill track. They’re playing a lot with the rhythm which makes it super intriguing to listen to.

Shower Of Rain’ follows ‘Asteroid’. I’m in love with the intro. I like the playfulness of the instrumentals. It reminds me of a lot of old video games.

We get a completely different vibe with ‘Die For You’. It’s as dramatic as the title suggests. I really want English translations for this one. If this happens to get a music video it better be in black and white with a lot of loose white shirts on top of a mountain somewhere. #MOOD

Talk’ is really funky and smooth. I love the instrumentals and their vocals really take the stage in this one. Also hello person belting in the background. I hear you!

The Black Hall

The Black Hall’ is the sixth song on this album. This chorus is SEXY. I didn’t see that coming. If this gets a choreo, it’s gonna be HOT.

Worship U’ kind of gave me musical whiplash. It’s a fun, up-beat track with funky vocals. It makes me happy just by listening to it.

Zoom Up’ has awesome instrumentals going on. It kind of reminds me of the traditional Turkish Tanbur, but I can’t 100% confirm that. It’s just super dope. Also vocal line, come through!

Get your tissues out for ‘Camellia’, because we’re going to Feelings Town, destination Sadness. This is a full on ballad, and I managed to find the English translation. My heart is kind of in pain right now.

Then we get the song ‘Someday’, which is a duet by JINHO and HUI. *cough*give them an OST*cough. Their voices blend so well together and with the strings it’s just a complete experience. Vocal Kings.

Then lastly, there’s the song ‘Happiness’. It’s the Korean version of the Japanese release from last August. It’s funky, it’s fun, I’m in love with the rap line.

Overall

‘UNIVERSE: The Black Hall’ is a super solid album by the boys of Pentagon and I really need them to win their first music bank or something. Go Pentagon, UNIVERSE is rooting for you!
