For this week’s Indie Pick, we’re introducing Lilly Eat Machine. Let’s take a closer look!
Lilly Eat Machine is a band that blends shoegaze and punk. They currently consist of three members; Sean (vocals), Jay (guitar), and Yongho (drums) and debuted together in 2023.
According to the album description of their debut album, “The band name was created by combining three words that suddenly came to mind while Sean was watching *The Geography of Solitude*, a screening at the 2022 Animal Film Festival. Although it is a grammatically incorrect, nonsensical sentence, they believed that the synergy created by the clash between the soft texture of the word ‘Lilly’ (or ‘Lily’) and the sharp texture of ‘Machine’ constituted their identity.”
Their debut album is “We Face the Night Trapped in an Unburned Summer” and was released October 2023. The track ‘Bubblegum Disorder’ was first released as a single.
Last month they came out with their second full-length album ‘I’mnotokayyourenotokayandthatsokay’. This story is a continuation of their first album and picks right up where it left off.
