PLAVE is back with their mini-album ‘HYPERDRIVE’. “‘Hyperdrive’ is not an acceleration device; it is a leap that jumps to a coordinate system entirely different from their previous course. PLAVE presents the traces of that leap as the final product.”
We start off with ‘GGUN’. This brings us smooth Bossa Nova with harmonies and a dreamy sound. The vocals are jazzy and sweet and leave a warm feeling.
‘Sweet Rain’ is a soft rock track with a wonderful guitar line and warm vocals. I enjoyed the progression and the overall vibe. This one really lets their voices breathe and take the stage.
After that comes the title track ‘Star Trace’. This is a blend of EDM, dance and pop. It’s a really cool listen as the build-up towards the chorus delivers each time. The synths in the background are really good as well. The bridge really helps your heart rate go up and you want to start jumping immediately. Honestly this song during a party would be fire.
‘The Answer is Yes’ is a bright and positive pop track with refreshing vocals and an uplifting energy. This one is incredibly lovely and will leave you feeling happy.
‘Rewind’ gives us an R&B pop moment that explores a bit beyond their self-production process as this was composed and arranged by KENZIE, no2zcat, JSONG and Rouno. They mention in the album introduction that they wanted to explore diverse possibilities and shine with a new charm.
