In this week’s review, we are talking about an SBS drama that is all about found family, comfort, healing, and a touch of romance. Let’s dive into ‘Sold Out on You’.
Written by Jin Seung-hee and directed by Ahn Jong-yeon and Lee Soo-min, ‘Sold Out on You’ follows the story of two incredibly passionate professionals whose dedication to their work unexpectedly intertwines their lives and leads them on a journey of healing and self-discovery.
Crossed Destinies
Dam Ye-jin (Chae Won-bin) is a host for a home shopping channel. Following a controversial debut involving a skincare product that caused severe side effects among consumers, she has dedicated her career to promoting home-care products instead of cosmetics. Since the incident, Ye-jin has made it her mission to thoroughly test every product she endorses, determined never to repeat the mistakes of her past.
On the other hand, Matthew Lee, also known as Lee Hae-seok (Ahn Hyo-seop), is the CEO of the biotechnology company Gojeuneok Bio. He has devoted his life to researching, cultivating, and preserving a mushroom farm located in the countryside. Deeply committed to his work, Matthew is also an active and beloved member of his rural community, known for his generosity and dedication to helping others.
Their paths cross when Ye-jin is assigned the difficult task of securing a business contract with the luxury brand L’Etoile. However, the company agrees to negotiate only if she can first renew their partnership with Gojeuneok Bio.
Determined to succeed, Ye-jin travels to Matthew’s village and immerses herself in the local community. Although Matthew initially keeps his distance, he gradually begins to appreciate her sincerity and genuine desire to help the villagers.
Finding Comfort in Each Other
As they spend more time together, Matthew discovers that Ye-jin suffers from severe sleepwalking episodes caused by her dependence on sleeping medication. Quietly concerned for her well-being, he begins looking after her during her most vulnerable moments, becoming an unseen source of support and comfort.
Slowly, Matthew and Ye-jin realize they share far more than they initially thought. As their friendship deepens, so does their understanding of each other’s pain, fears, and dreams.
Together, they begin to heal from their past traumas, finding comfort, acceptance, and strength in one another. Through their growing bond, they become better versions of themselves while pursuing the lives they always hoped to have.
A Gentle and Comforting Story
‘Sold Out on You’ is a beautifully paced healing drama that explores the power of community, acceptance, and unconditional support. Rather than rushing its romance, the series carefully develops the relationship between its protagonists, allowing their connection to grow naturally and authentically.
