WSJN just debuted their new sub-unit Chocome including the members Luda, Soobin, Dayoung and Yeoreum. ‘Hmph!’ is the title of this single album and includes the title track with the same name and the song ‘Ya Ya Ya’.
The song ‘Hmph!’ definitely leaves a very strong impression, it reminded me a lot of first and second gen of K-pop, with the unusual mixes of styles, tempos and the instrumental that characterised the groups at the time. However, this track has a modern touch to it and I loved it. The saxophone at the back was a fantastic addition and overall this song is a total bop.
With an anime OST feeling we get the second track ‘Ya Ya Ya’ and this track was created to show off the harmonization and vocal power of the members. This song is just super happy and had me jamming to it from start to end.
I was very surprised with this debut. I absolutely loved the combination of these members, and in fairness I’m looking forward to hearing more from them.
