[Time Capsule] Leessang – Clown

Today we’re featuring hip-hop duo Leessang with their single ‘Clown’ for our Time Capsule.

Leessang was a duo that was active from 2002 to 2017 and gained a lot of fame with their music and live performances. Kang Hee-gun, better known as Gary and Gil Seong-joon eventually decided to part ways and work as solo-artists.

I really wanted to share the song ‘Clown’ with you. There are a bunch of songs I would recommend you listen to, but one of my personal favorites is ‘Clown’. The featured artist on the single is B.M.K. who has a beautiful voice and the woman can belt!

‘Clown’ was released in 2005 on their album ‘Library of Soul’ which was very successful.

The video takes the entire concept of the sad clown and runs with it. It’s kind of amazing. The lyrics though is where the true treasure awaits.

when I stand on the stage sometimes
it changes completely,
I become the audience
I draw an imaginary drawing on the
faces of the people, I splash the paint
that burning youth of the 20s
when tomorrow comes, the first line of this society
testing life by writing resumes
that innocent amateur at love,
her gaze meets with the man’s
falls in love and waits for sadness
(hey come on baby) you and I even if we
wear the clothes of god we are the underlings,
putting every effort into the reality
when I have a glass today
I have to last tomorrow on a glass of water
but I drink today, sadness disappears
