[Review] ZELO – SCARECROW

Former B.A.P. member ZELO is back with a brand new extended play. This release titled ‘SCARECROW’ is nothing but pure hip-hop with fantastic flow, cool lyrics and a chill vibe. Let’s start listening to this release.

SCARECROW

Can’t Settle for You’ opens this release and what a cool way to start off! This track is chill from start to end, with a good flow, delivery and tempo that will have you singing its very catchy hook.

The title track ‘Fault’ plays next with an overwhelming flow and rhythm that will have you immersed in ZELO’s lyrical delivery. I absolutely loved the layering for this track, the full mix was immersive and captivating.

We get chill vibes in ‘Blank’ with a very playful track that feels somehow happy and very summery. The tropical sound in this track gave it a special touch that made this song a fantastic listen.

Guitar and bass open ‘Shall We Dance in the Club’ and they flow throughout the entire song with some electronic elements added to them and ZELO’s rapping. This track has a bit of an odd mix but it works incredibly well with the vibe of this entire release.

Mi Amor’ is next and this track is a total bop, I absolutely loved the track mix in this release, it felt heavily influenced by EDM but it also has surprise elements (like the whistling) and it was refreshing to listen to.

Last in this release is the second title track ‘Why am I so Lonely’ with a lo-fi inspired sound, smooth rapping and some fantastic vocalization by ZELO. What a way to close a fantastic EP.

I wasn’t a stan of ZELO, I just casually listened to some of his music but after this release I’m in. He is a fantastic rapper and artist, and I’m really looking forward to listening to more of his music.
