[Review] WENDY – Cerulean Verge

Our vocal queen Wendy is back with her next mini-album ‘Cerulean Verge’. Let’s take a closer look!

Cerulean Verge

We start off with ‘Fireproof’. We’re getting alternative rock with a hopeful message of “trust in one another and overcome even in the face of blazing crises.” I absolutely love the guitars here and the funky progression.

Next up is the title track ‘Sunkiss’. It’s an alt pop track with cool guitars and a nice piano. “The song delicately captures the excitement and thrill of the moment when the blue Wendy meets the red light of the sun and steps forward into a new world.”

‘EXISTENTIAL CRISIS’ is an indie rock moment where we’re looking to accept ourselves even through an ‘existential crisis’. It has a fun momentum and together with the positive message, it makes for a nice listen.

‘Hate²’ has Wendy listed in the credits for the writing and composing, which makes a first in Wendy’s music career. This is a pop track with some retro elements and power vocals.

The following track is ‘Chapter You’ which brings in some warmth with a lovely guitar sound. The layering was really well done here and I love the retro synths. This pop song is fully in English. The chorus is amazing.

The closing track is ‘Believe’. This pop ballad is stunning and starts off quite small before exploding with intensity.
