[Review] Weki Meki – I AM ME.

The girls from Weki Meki are back with their new mini-album ‘I AM ME’. Let’s dive right in!

I AM ME.

We start off with the title track ‘Siesta’. This song is super fun. This is what they wrote in the album description: “‘Siesta’ is a word that means nap time. Just like a nap in everyday life gives vitality, sometimes like a long day makes a brighter night.” The song is a cute pop track, with great vocals, catchy lyrics and a really cool bridge.

After that comes ‘Who am I’. This track is so dope! It’s a blend of deep house with dance. The instrumentals are amazing and I love how they utilized their vocals. The layering is insane and I am 100% here for it. I am so curious to see the choreo for this.

‘Luminous’ is a funky track with some disco inspired vibes. There’s an 808 bass that makes it more contemporary. The electric guitar in the back is straight up fire. It’s quite the lovely blend and sounds very cool. It’s catchy and cheerful and a blast of serotonin.

Next up

Next up is ‘Sweet Winter’. This pop track has a lovely build-up to the chorus that is very cute. There is a very deep bass sound that creates an interesting dichotomy with the higher range of vocal. The harmonies in the bridge were very unexpected but I loved it.

‘First Dream’ is a mid-tempo R&B ballad that has a very lovely flow to it. I enjoyed the layering and the surprising vocal runs in the background. It’s reminding me a bit of the early 2000s.

The closing track is ‘One Day’. This emotional synth-pop song has a very dreamy ambience which fits the theme of the track. The lyrics speak about searching for the perfect dream. Member Suyeon helped writing the lyrics. What a lovely closure of a great mini.

Overall ‘I AM ME.’ by Weki Meki is a very nice mini-album. You can find the release on Spotify here.
