2021 rookie group EPEX is back with their second mini-album ‘Bipolar Pt. 2 Prelude of Love‘. This is the second part of their series ‘Bipolar’ and this time the concept is about about “The first love and complex emotions of the beginning” (MELON description).
Let’s listen to what music they are bringing us for this new part of the series.
Prelude of Love
Playful beats and a catchy melody begins ‘Love Virus‘, this song exudes a worry free, cutesy and an innocent vibe in its flow and lyrical delivery. At an instrumental level I really liked how they added the orchestration and blended it organically with the EDM base track. It is a lovely listen that will for sure cheer up listeners.
The title track ‘Do 4 Me‘ follows up with a very groovy instrumentation and certain funkiness that makes it super fun to listen to. The bass line used in this track feels very familiar but new at the same time. The EPEX members’ vocals added a special touch and made this single catchy, modern and fresh.
The music video is ADORABLE, and very much in line with the first love theme of this EP. The colours, styling and sets are cute and full of that youthful energy and vibe, perfect for this rookie group. Watch it below.
Next up is ‘Breathtaking‘ with a hip-hop style and fantastic beats. The electric guitar in this song is super good and gives it a bit of an intense feel, as if they were venting but with great vocals, rapping and a lot of angst vibes.
Drums welcome listeners to ‘Traveller‘, and transitions to a synth based song with lovely singing and a cool rap delivery. The musical sectioning in this song is super fun to listen to and I really liked how smooth the transitions and how well mixed it is. The instrumentals are fantastic and the high note in the bridge, definitely ends this EP on a high note.
EPEX continues on surprising us with their releases, make sure to check our review for their debut EP, and you can listen to this release here.
