Our boys Dokyeom and Seungkwan from SEVENTEEN released their first sub-unit mini-album ‘Serenade’. We’re super stoked, so let’s take a closer look!
Serenade
We start off with the Dokyeom solo ‘Rockstar’. DK shines in this cutes pop rock moment with cool guitars and a light vibe.
After that comes the title track ‘Blue’. We’re getting the vocal team in full power as we’re getting a beautiful emotive ballad. The strings, the piano, and their soulful voices. It’s stunning.
Prepare to get your feelings hurt by the music video. Chills!
‘Guilty pleasure’ brings the groove with a smooth R&B track. “The song vividly portrays the dangerous curiosity that cannot be denied even when you know that the other person is unapproachable, and the instinctive emotions that are confusing but cannot be hidden.” I love the whistles and the playfulness with the tempo.
After that comes ‘Silence’ which tugs at the heart strings with a stunning pop ballad. I love the layering of the instrumentals, as well as the vocal layering.
Seungkwan’s solo is ‘Dream Serenade’. “It contains the message that when you look back on precious moments at the end of the past trajectory and fully understand each other, you will finally realize complete love in that warm comfort and emotion.” The soundscape is wonderful and so, so delicate. It’s beautiful in its restraint.
The closing track is ‘Prelude of Love’ and we’re closing off with something wholesome. We’re getting gentle, and dynamic guitars and warm vocals.
