Ode To The Artist: Ku One Chan

For this week’s Ode To The Artist I want to introduce you to Ku One Chan.

Ku One Chan is an extremely talented Korean indie R&B singer. He started his career as a singer-songwriter with the EP ‘Repetition’ that was released in 2017.

Take a look at the title track: ‘Sweether’ from his first EP.

Ku One Chan is under Peaches Label which is a subsidiary of Magic Strawberry Sound. He was born in 1994, so he’s still quite young. Though the amount of talent this guy has is crazy!

Take a look at this video (tip of the writer, turn on the captions):

He manages to write lyrics that are pure and beautiful.

“The memories contained in the word “love”
I’ve come to treasure more than anything else”

“My spaceship is currently flying through the vast expanse
All those stars are sparkling especially bright
Even if they all look similar from far away
they’re all different after all.

Under what circumstances would I settle here?
It’s never possible to guess
I’m landing my spaceship on you
I think I’ll be here for a while”

Collabs

I can’t forget to write about his beautiful collaborations as well. He has the song ‘How did you’ where he worked together with Yerin Baek. The song is a celebration of love in all its shapes and sizes.

There’s this collab with the queen Sunwoo Jung A who we’ve featured a lot on this site because we stan y’all.

He also has collabs with Fisherman and and Chang Sukhoon.

His latest release was in April 2019 where he dropped the EP ‘LOG’. In this tweet he explains the backstory a little:

Every video Ku One Chan released from ‘LOG’ gets a 10/10 for aesthetics.

Go show him some love on his Instagram.

Here’s his Spotify.
