For this week’s MV Recommendation I wanted to share ‘Perks of a break up’ by Cho Jung Chi featuring FROMM.
This song was released in 2018 and since then I find myself going back to it over and over. There’s something in the soothing voice of FROMM that lures me back. The video itself is also just really well done.
We find a lethargic office worker who is clearly going through something. It’s a funny dichotomy between the meaning of the lyrics clearly stating that they’re fine since the break up, and the way you can see the office worker struggling.
The moment when the cleaner, played here by Cho Jung Chi just shoves the office chair away with the clerk still in it, completely lifeless, had me cackling when I first saw it.
Please turn on the captions to get the translated lyrics, because they’re really great. The interesting thing is that the lyrics were written by Cho Jung Chi and FROMM and the song was composed by his wife, Jung In.
