Mini Album Review: Boramiyu – Dear My Color

Indie sweetheart Boramiyu released her second mini album ‘Dear My Color’ today. If you don’t know her yet, please take a moment of your day to listen to her angelic, adorable voice. She wrote and composed all of the tracks herself, so stan talent.

Boramiyu is under SHOFAR Music which houses artists like BOL4, Vanilla Acoustic, Sweden Laundry. So many great talents under one label.

‘Dear My Color’

We start the mini album of with the song ‘우리가 틀렸던 건 아닐거야’ which roughly translates to ‘Maybe we’re not wrong’ at least according to Google Translate. It’s a beautiful ballad with even prettier vocals. I really want to read the translated lyrics to this, because I’m sure it is going to break my heart a little bit.

The title track of ‘Dear My Color’ is ‘Pit a Pat’, which is exactly what I needed today. It’s a literal ray of sunshine. Take a peep at the music video, because first of all the styling is on point! I am in LOVE with her outfits.

The song is happy with little funky piano runs in the background and light airy vocals that just make me smile all goofy. Also a random moment in the video with mustard and ketchup imported from IKEA. I couldn’t stop the giggle.

‘Half n half’ is the third song on the mini album. It starts off with acoustic guitar and soft vocals and I’m here for it. The addition of the whistling part is really great and brings a bit of levity.

Then we slide right into ‘Wind, Star, Moon’. According to the song description ‘Wind, Star, Moon’ is a song to the fans to send them lots of love and brighten their day. The song feels like a small little thing you hold in the cusp of your hand. I love the little electric guitar solo and basically the entire vibe of it.

The last track is ‘Hug Me’ which had been previously released as a single. This ballad about unrequited love is honestly quite heartbreaking. Boramiyu’s beautiful vocals sweep right through the string accompaniment and it’s fantastic.

Overall

Boramiyu released a great piece of work with ‘Dear My Color’ with both happy and sad songs to encourage us. Now please excuse me while I go do a full deep dive into her discography because I’m a little bit in love.

The mini-album isn’t on Spotify yet, nor is it on YouTube Music, but I’ll update the article once it’s on there. In the meantime, here’s her Artist profile.
