The girls from Apink are back with their ninth mini album ‘LOOK’. They really blessed us on Easter Monday and I’m living for it. #girlpower
‘LOOK’
The first track is also their title track for this release, ‘Dumhdurum’. Check out the music video. It’s a literal pastel fever dream and I’m absolutely in love with the looks, the make-up, the set design and their performance.
At first I was kind of confused with the rhythm, I didn’t understand where it was going, but after a second listen I was 100% up for it. It’s insanely catchy and the synths are hella dope.
‘Yummy’ is up next and is an R&B inspired summer track. I will never hear the word ‘yummy’ again without thinking ‘so yummy love’. The girls’ vocals really stand out and I really dig the instrumentals. It’s fun, lighthearted and I can’t wait to see what the choreo is for this track.
‘Be Myself’ starts off with some funky instrumentals. It’s a self-love anthem after a bad break up and I can only support that. It’s a sub-unit song with the vocals of Chorong, Eunji and Namjoo. Their vocals are amazing and I’m definitely adding this track to my playlists, because it’s a BOP.
‘Love is Blind’ is the next sub-unit track. This time with the members Bomi, Naeun and Hayoung. Y’all this song is fun! Their vocals are playful and I love the chorus!
With ‘Overwrite’ we enter ballad city. This one has all the members. Guys, the belting is incredible. There’s sweeping violins and for me the vocals of Namjoo and Eunji really stood out. The lyrics are quite sad, but they carry a positive message.
‘Moment’ is up next and while we’re still in ballad city, this one is so uplifting. It’s all about how beautiful all the little moments are. Chorong’s husky vocals fit this track so well. If you’re having a hard day, please listen to this song for some comfort.
Last up
‘Everybody Ready’ is the last track on ‘LOOK’ and was previously released as a single. There’s also a MV, check that out.
I wish we didn’t have to quarantine, because I would love to hang out with my friends on a boat right now. This song would be perfect for that. This is a party track y’all.
Overall
‘LOOK’ by Apink is a fun, fresh new mini album that displays the girls’ diversity in sound. It’s not on Spotify yet, but I’ll update the article once I can find it on there.
