In this edition of Label Deep Dive, we’re shining the spotlight on a hip-hop label that’s about to celebrate its 10th anniversary: New Wave Records.
Founded in 2016 by rapper B-Free alongside Double K, the label kicked off with B-Free’s own release, ‘Shadow’, marking its first official step into the Korean hip-hop scene.
Just a year later, in 2017, Double K stepped down as co-CEO, leaving B-Free as the sole head of the company. Over the years, New Wave Records has been home to several notable names, including Dbo and Jeremy Quest.
Today, the label’s roster may be smaller, but it remains powerful, with artists like King South G and Kwon Ki-baek carrying the torch.
