Cushions are by far one of my most favourite items in the K-Beauty world. If you are like me and you are not really into a full face of make-up and you prefer a more natural look, look no further, cushions are for you.
A compact BB Cream/ Foundation
Cushions are basically BB Creams/ Foundation in a compact form. It mixes the best of the skincare and make-up world. BB Creams mix elements of your skincare routine such as moisture, SPF and even some active ingredients with color correction foundation or concealers.
We will go into more detail in future articles about BB Creams, for now let’s talk about the wonders of using a cushion.
One of the biggest appeals of this product is how handy it is, the application is extremely simple and it gives that fresh complexion with color correction without having to put lots of effort in a full face of make-up.
The best part is the possibility of retouching throughout the day, which makes cushions a lot handier than any other cosmetic product, when you are a person that’s always on the go.
Here is a list of a few of my favourite Korean cushions.
Number 1: MISSHA – M Magic Cushion SPF 50+++
MISSHA is out there as one of my favourite Korean make-up brands. The MISSHA M Magic Cushion, was the first one I purchased and I was 100% happy with the result.
Starting off with their ingredient list, including moisturising ingredients (Baobab Tree Fruit Extract), as well as, one of my favourite active ingredients Niacinamide. This cushion offers fairly high coverage and evens out your skin tone.
Something that many may not like is the bit of white cast that stays as a consequence of the SPF. However, this did not bother me at all, as it isn’t that noticeable.
Number 2: CLIO – Kill Cover Conceal
CLIO is a new find for me, but was highly recommended by one of my closest friends because of its matte finish, perfect for the high temperatures of the summer time.
Its ingredient list includes Tea Tree which is one of my favourite ingredients for my oily/acne prone skin. So, I will definitely be purchasing one of these, and overall this cushion has fantastic reviews in regards to coverage, texture and application.
Number 3: HERA – Black Cushion SPF 34 PA++
If you like the No Make-up look this cushion is for you. HERA Black cushion is lightweight and offers high coverage as well as SPF. Most of the reviews of this cushion talk about the matte finish this product has without drying out the skin.
This cushion comes in 6 different shades with different undertones, so make sure to check it out if you are looking for a high coverage product and a dewy bright complexion.
Number 4: Sulwhasoo – Evenfair Perfecting Cushion Broad Spectrum SPF 50+
Even though this product is a bit pricey in comparison to other cushions in the market, the Evenfair Perfecting Cushion by Sulwhaso has some fantastic active and moisturising ingredients. They will have your skin looking flawless and protected from UVB and UVA rays.
Pitched for skin concerns such as tone unevenness, expression lines and pores enlargement. This cushion proclaims that it reduces not just redness but also smoothes fine lines, evens skin tone and adds radiance to the skin without an oily finish. Sounds good right?
Number 5: COSRX – Cushion Blemish Cover
Last but not least we have a cushion for those who have acne prone skin. The COSRX Cushion Blemish Cover has a full coverage formula that will even out the skin tone, cover any scars, and at the same time will provide UV protection. It’s also anti-wrinkle active and has calming ingredients that will nourish your skin.
This cushion has centella asiatica and niacinamide as components, and on top of that it is cruelty free. The only downside I see to this cushion is the lack of variety in shades but if you have a fair complexion with yellow undertones, this one will work great for you.
I will be looking forward to trying more of these cushions, their magic and letting you know their pros and cons. Let us know if you have tried any of these cushions and which one has been your favourite.
So which one among them do you suggest for acne prone oily skin and acidic type?
Hiya! We recommend any of the COSRX products as they seem mostly targeted toward oily and acne prone skin.
Good luck!
