[Indie Pick] Wisue

We’re back with a new Indie Pick, this time about singer-songwriter Wisue. If you like soft vocals and pretty lyricism, keep on reading.

Debut

Kim Wi-soo debuted in 2016 under Acoustie Music which she stayed with until 2019. Her debut single ‘Tomorrow After Tomorrow’ is very cute and shows her lovely vocal work.

Her first comeback, in 2017 was ‘Hand in Hand’ and talks about a cold winter day where you want to walk hand in hand with someone you’re in love with.

In June 2017 Wisue released her first EP ‘The Texture of My Mind’.

Her next single in 2018 was the beautiful ballad ‘Eyes are blind’.

She also came out with her first full-length album ‘Cobalt Blue’. The strings in the track ‘Hey’ are unbelievably good.

In 2019 Wisue came out with the single ‘For the first time’ and ‘Starry Night’ featuring Ku One Chan.

The two pre-release singles appeared on her EP ‘Eternal Moment’.

‘Letter’ and the EP ‘[Flower Shop]: Between Summer and Autumn’ were released in 2020.

Latest comeback

Wisue’s latest release is the EP ‘Dear my last summer’. I’ve been replaying the EP since it came out. It has such a great sound and I love the growth you can hear in her music. It’s absolutely wonderful.

Her album description for ‘Dear my last summer’ is rather beautiful. (note, this is a Google Translation. You can read the original here. Feel free to let me know if there are any errors.)

“Life flows even as I barely swim through the rough waves, I am still alive in it.

This is how I spent last summer. Just like putting a pot planted with seeds on a sunny window and passing through rainy days, warm sunny days, thunderstorms, cloudy air, and beautiful snowy days.

If you open the window while standing still, you can hear the sound of the wind, cicadas crowing, and cars. When I go outside and walk, sometimes a gentle breeze touches my skin, and the moist air surrounds me. The leaves sway gently. The waves on the shores of the lake ripple. At night, the stars in the sky were sometimes seen twinkling. Then I felt alive.

Even in that summer, I was happy enough. The reason I reflect on the past summers is not because I feel sorry for those days, but ‘to live happily enough’.

This is enough.”

Overall

Wisue has a wonderful sound. Her songs are a combination of happy folk and soft ballads and I love that duality. Go ahead and check her out on Instagram and Spotify.
