For this edition of our Label Deep Dive, we are going mainstream with an agency that started as a sub-label and has since consolidated into a company of its own. Let’s talk about THEBLACKLABEL.
Founded in 2015 by producers Teddy Park and Kush, THEBLACKLABEL was initially established as a sub-label of YG Entertainment. After its creation, the label became home to well-known artists in the Hip-Hop and R&B scene, including Zion.T, PEEJAE, and dress, among others.
Over time, however, the agency gradually moved further into the K-pop scene, starting with the signing of JEON SOMI in 2018, alongside Teddy’s continued involvement in the production of major K-pop hits.
In 2022, the agency secured a contract with none other than Taeyang, followed by BLACKPINK’s ROSE in 2024, further strengthening its already impressive artist roster.
Group Debuts
With an already impressive lineup of artists, it was no surprise when THEBLACKLABEL announced the debut of its very first girl group in 2025. MEOVV debuted with the lead single ‘HANDS UP’, marking a new chapter for the agency.
Their debut was closely followed by the launch of the agency’s first co-ed group, ALLDAY PROJECT, with the lead single ‘FAMOUS’.
Besides its well-known music artists, THEBLACKLABEL also has an impressive roster of actors, including Park Bo-gum and Im Si-wan, among others.
THEBLACKLABEL has built an increasingly diverse roster across music and acting, and its evolution from a YG sub-label into an independent company makes its journey particularly interesting to follow.
