‘Supporting Mom’s Affair’ is one of those short, quirky films that doesn’t take itself too seriously—and that’s exactly where its charm lies.
The story follows Ye Ri (played by Lee In Young), a daughter dealing with the absurd reality of her father secretly marrying multiple women behind her mother’s back. Instead of spiraling into pure melodrama, the film takes a surprisingly cheeky turn: Ye Ri decides that if her dad can have affairs, maybe her mom should too. What follows is a slightly ridiculous but oddly sweet “project” where Ye Ri interviews potential boyfriends for her mom, In Sook (Choi Sol Hui).
The premise alone sets the tone—this isn’t a heavy, brooding drama, but rather a lighthearted, sometimes downright silly exploration of family, loyalty, and second chances. The humor can feel a bit offbeat, and the film doesn’t always land every joke, but there’s an undeniable warmth running through it.
Technically, it’s not perfect. The audio quality dips here and there, and you can tell it’s a modest production. But at just about an hour long, it never overstays its welcome. In fact, the short runtime works in its favor, keeping the story breezy and easy to watch.
What really sticks is the heart behind the chaos. Beneath the awkward interviews and unconventional matchmaking lies a simple, touching idea: a daughter just wants her mom to be happy.
All in all, ‘Supporting Mom’s Affair’ is a small, imperfect, but genuinely warm film—best enjoyed when you’re in the mood for something a little unconventional and a lot sincere.
