We’re back with another edition of our favorite tried & tested products from the K-beauty scene—and this time, we’re diving into serums. Over the past few months, we carefully selected and tested a handful of formulas based on our changing skin needs and the seasonal shifts that come with travel, stress, and sun exposure.
Whether you’re dealing with breakouts, dullness, irritation, or uneven texture, here’s our honest experience with five serums that truly delivered.
SOME BY MI – AHA-BHA-PHA 30 Days Miracle Serum
Best for: Acne-prone, congested, or rough skin
Used during: Spring travel across Asia
As I traveled across Asia, my skin faced constant climate changes and pollution—leading to breakouts and dull texture. While this serum didn’t magically erase my blemishes, it helped calm the inflammation, reduced redness, and kept my skin under control until I returned home. Its lightweight consistency and exfoliating properties made it easy to use daily without over-stripping.

Key Benefits:
- Soothes irritation
- Gently exfoliates dead skin cells
- Controls excess sebum
- Reduces acne and inflammation
Main Ingredients:
- AHA, BHA, PHA: Chemical exfoliants that refine texture and unclog pores
- Tea Tree Leaf Water (10,000 ppm): Calms and purifies skin
- Centella Asiatica Extract (14.5%): Heals and strengthens the barrier
SOME BY MI – Retinol Intense Reactivating Serum
Best for: Post-acne marks, dullness, early signs of aging
Used after: Returning from travel and sun exposure
After my trip, I introduced this gentle retinol serum to help my skin bounce back from stress and environmental damage. It gradually improved my skin texture, lightened dark spots, and gave my complexion a much-needed glow before summer arrived.

Key Benefits:
- Improves elasticity and smoothness
- Fades acne marks and pigmentation
- Boosts skin cell turnover
Main Ingredients:
- Retinol (0.1%): Helps reduce fine lines and discoloration
- Bakuchiol: A plant-based alternative to retinol, gentle on sensitive skin
- Panthenol & Ceramide NP: Strengthen and repair the skin barrier
Tenzero – Vitamin C Ampoule
Best for: Oily, dull, or uneven skin tone
Used during: Summer, for brightening and oil control
Tenzero was a new brand for me, but this Vitamin C serum quickly earned its place in my routine. During the peak of summer, my skin tends to get oily and prone to breakouts. This serum helped control excess oil, even out my skin tone, and left my face feeling fresh and hydrated—without making me greasy.

Key Benefits:
- Provides antioxidant protection
- Brightens dull complexion
- Fades sunspots and acne scars
Main Ingredients:
- Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid): Brightens and defends against free radicals
- Niacinamide: Minimizes pores and balances oil production
- Sodium Hyaluronate: Hydrates and plumps the skin
Purito – Centella Green Level Buffet Serum
Best for: Sensitive, reactive, or damaged skin
Used during: Nighttime routine, especially after active treatments
This serum became my nighttime savior—especially on days I used exfoliating acids or retinol. With 49% Centella Asiatica extract, it’s all about repairing, soothing, and strengthening the skin barrier. It helps improve overall skin texture while calming redness and preventing sensitivity flare-ups.

Key Benefits:
- Improves texture and hydration
- Calms irritation and redness
- Strengthens skin barrier
Main Ingredients:
- Centella Asiatica Extract (49%): Heals and protects
- Panthenol: Deeply hydrates and soothes
