EP Review: GOT7- DYE

The boys from GOT7 just dropped their EP ‘DYE’ and we are excited! The teasers for this release were incredible, powerful and got us super hyped. Let’s start this off.

DYE

AURA’ kicks off this EP with a strong and flawless delivery by the vocal line, and goes on smoothly with Jackson, BamBam and Mark’s rapping. The electronic/synth backing track is super cool and I really liked the touch of autotune added to the rapline’s vocals, it was refreshing and interesting to listen to.

Second on this extended play is ‘CRAZY’, and in this song Yugyeom and JB’s vocals were my highlight. I absolutely love how smooth they are and how well they blend with the electronic beats of this song.

Next on the list is the title track for ‘DYE’, ‘NOT BY THE MOON’ a pop song whose rhythm and beat is very catchy. I am here for singer BAMBAM. I loved his low and almost raspy voice, Jackson’s singing never disappoints and I have to say that I love it whenever the members try out new things vocally. The music video for this song screams aesthetics left and right so check it out.

LOVE YOU BETTER’ starts with a slower tempo and a lo-fi hip hop feeling I loved. Jinyoung’s voice fits this type of track perfectly and I really liked the composition and mix of it. ‘TRUST MY LOVE’ follows it with a brighter almost summer-ish tempo. This dance track will keep you vibing to it for a while and Youngjae’s high note towards the end was just fire.

Closing this EP we have ‘POISON’ starting off with the rapline, and Mark does a great job, I loved his deep voice. This song has a slightly darker vibe in comparison to the rest of this release.

I liked the vibe GOT7 went for in this release, it was more electronic with low beats and I felt that this style suits their voices really well (though to be fair they can pull off anything). Make sure to listen to this extended play below.
