[Review] SEVENTEEN – SPILL THE FEELS

SEVENTEEN is back with their twelfth mini-album ‘SPILL THE FEELS’. I’m absolutely charmed by the album description: “[SPILL THE FEELS] is an anagram of the phrase ‘I FELT HELPLESS’ written in reverse alphabetical order. It implies that if you honestly pour out your emotions, even a helpless and difficult moment can turn into a starting point toward a hopeful future. In a world where it is difficult to express your true feelings for fear of being caught, [SPILL THE FEELS] contains encouragement to reveal your true feelings based on trust in each other.”

Let’s take a closer look!

SPILL THE FEELS

We start off with the opening track ‘Eyes on you’. We’re going clubbing with this one. This House track is catchy, has a good hook and a really cool build-up. I can’t wait to see the choreography for this one.

After that comes the title track ‘LOVE, MONEY, FAME’ featuring DJ Khaled though apart from his catchphrases we don’t really hear him in the track. He participated more with the production. I’m really digging the R&B and Hip-Hop blend as it creates a really fun track with a sweet message.

Next up is ‘1 to 13’ where they pledge their love for each other, the group and the fandom. It’s cute and has a very bouncy rhythm to it. I enjoyed the synths in this one.

We get a track by the vocal unit with ‘Candy’. This is a stunning ballad which reminds me of a cozy fall day. Get some hot chocolate and a nice fuzzy blanket to enjoy these warm vocals and beautiful piano sections.

‘Rain’ takes us to the performance unit. We’re going for a newtro disco track with cool synths and an even cooler rhythm. I really like the chorus and the snappy instrumentals.

The closing track is ‘Water’ by the Hip-Hop unit. This is such a cool track! We’re going for dark synths with an angry undercurrent in the delivery and it’s incredibly dope.
