Today, we’re talking about SL8IGHT Visual Lab, a production company that has made waves in the music industry with its innovative and visually stunning work.
The Early Days
SL8IGHT Visual Lab first emerged in 2018, according to their Instagram. Their initial projects leaned heavily towards commercial content, characterised by compelling storytelling and unique narratives. One of their earliest works was the DICKIDS: First Showcase Documentary. This period also saw them producing promotional videos for the dance crew HOLY BANG, known for their appearance on Street Woman Fighter, and a choreography video for krumper Bulleta.
Breaking Into the Music Scene
SL8IGHT’s transition into music video production began with Seora’s FISH WISH in mid-2018. This was followed by a string of visually striking music videos, including You Just Have To by JINBO the SuperFreak, WINee’s May, and The Quiett’s fxx all that shit.
Entering the World of K-POP
With a solid portfolio in hand, SL8IGHT Visual Lab naturally progressed into the K-pop industry. One of their first major projects was contributing 3D VFX to Stray Kids’ MIROH music video in 2019. This project marked their entry into the multimillion-dollar K-pop scene.
Later that year, they worked on a variety of music videos, including OnlyOneOf’s Sage, SUMIN’s Love Is Strange featuring QIM ISLE, and Kid Milli’s BOY. These projects showcased their versatility and ability to adapt to different musical styles and artistic visions.
Expanding Their Influence
By 2020, SL8IGHT Visual Lab was in high demand, working with top artists and groups. They directed and produced music videos for prominent names like WINNER’s MINO, Leellamarz, and iKON.
Their collaboration with major entertainment companies like SM Entertainment and JYP Entertainment led to the creation of music videos for SHINee, Red Velvet, NCT Dream, aespa, ITZY, and Xdinary Heroes, further solidifying their reputation in the industry.
Recent Projects
SL8IGHT Visual Lab continues to set trends with their recent work. In 2023, they produced music videos for SEVENTEEN’s MAESTRO, SPELL, and LALALI; ZB1’s YURA YURA and GOOD SO BAD; and NOWADAYS’ TICKET, among others.
