We’ve collected some of our favourite Korean releases of February 2020. The K-pop industry tends to be very fast paced, so we want to look back a little bit and savour some of the best releases of the month.
This will be a new recurring feature, at the end of every month! This isn’t entirely focused on K-pop as there is Korean indie and even hip hop in there. Our editors like a little bit of everything, like a well-balanced meal.
Let’s dive in!
Gaeko – Cold ft Heize
This song is amazingly soft. The video is gorgeous and had me close to tears.
Everglow – DUN DUN
We love a good Everglow moment. Their releases have all been really, really dope so far. We wrote a review about their latest release. Go check that out!
GFriend – Crossroads
GFriend never ceases to amaze us with their vocals and their dancing skills. This time they brought a whole suitcase with story lines as well, so we were scratching our heads reading all of the theories. Go check out our review about their EP.
SUMIN+Zion.T – Dirty Love
We’re a little bit obsessed with this collab. Everything from the styling to the amazing song itself is on point! If you want to discover a bit more about SUMIN, go read this article we’ve published.
3YE – QUEEN
What else can I say apart from ‘QUEEN’ is an entire BOP and a half and I love, love their outfits.
Moonbyul – Eclipse
I think everyone is pretty much gone for Moonbyul, if they weren’t before watching this. Moonbyul never ceases to amaze me with her talent and general attitude. WE STAN. Go check out our review.
BTS – ON
I’ve been doing my best streaming the music video, trying not to collapse in a puddle of tears and questions/theories. I’ve so many, yet I don’t know anything at the same time. It seems to be BIG HIT’s specialty, but we love the sweet torture. Go read our take on their latest album.
YEEUN AHN – KAKOTOPIA
This is one of my favourite discoveries of February. Her voice is like trot mixed with folk and a little bit of R&B. Do yourself a favor and, if you like the song, go check out her EP. Here’s the Spotify link.
Hate. – Blue
I need to do a deep dive into his work, but I fell in love with the soft flow of ‘Blue’.
9won – Moonlight
The dude has everything, so I’m just waiting for him to blow up. For real.
Kim Oki – Hug
He just won Artist Of The Year at the Korean Music Awards, so you know he’s good. His latest release is beautiful. It’s the stuff from my soft jazz dreams. He also has a collab with Samuel Seo who also won at the KMA.
Wetter – Love is all around
I literally just featured them in my article Korean Indie/Rock Bands Part 7 and they go and release a new bop. Sometimes luck really works super well.
IZ*ONE – FIESTA
These girls have gone through a lot, so I’m super happy that their album is doing well. It helps that the music is amazing as well. We wrote about that release, so go check that out!
Dreamcatcher – Scream
This song is stuck in my head and I love every second of it. If you want to read our other thoughts, go take a look at the review.
KARD – RED MOON
We can’t forget about our babies from KARD. That release was hella dope.
LOONA – So What
Theories, so so many theories. I don’t understand any of it, but I love it!
Pentagon – Dr.BeBe
This was so iconic. Just like, big mood.
iKON – Dive
It’s been a hectic couple of months, but we’re glad that they came back.
DKB – Sorry Mama
This was a super fun debut! And we were kind of shook. DKB together with MCND, K-pop fans are in for an awakening! We love it!
BVNDIT – Cool
‘Cool’ goes to so many different places, I was hooked from the first couple of seconds.
That was it for the overlook of the best Korean releases of February 2020. If we forgot something, feel free to drop a comment! A lot of music came out and we’ve been working hard, trying to cover all the new releases. Share your favourite song of the month with us.
So many great releases this past month! I really loved 9won and Gaeko. You have a great mix here of popular and underrated artists!
Hi Todoke,
Thank you so much!
It was crazy difficult to pick and choose which ones to put in the list. There were so many amazing releases!!
Lots of love,
The M.E.A.L. Team
