[Review] Yves – Soft Error

K-pop icon Yves is back with her new mini-album ‘Soft Error’. We’re super stoked about this release as we’ve had her solo debut playing continuously.

“[Soft Error] captures these delicate emotional errors: pauses, distance, and truths left unspoken. There’s no need for explanation. Yves simply exists, and is sufficient in and of himself.”

Let’s take a closer look at this comeback as she’s also collabed with PinkPantheress!

Soft Error

We start off with the title track ‘White cat’ which is a synthpop dream. I enjoyed the progression and the layering of the instrumentals immensely. There’s a very crunchy synth in the background which is super dope.

After that comes the much anticipated ‘Soap’ featuring PinkPantheress. I love that Rebecca Black also is credited as lyricist to the track. I’m kind of disappointed PinkPantheress didn’t really have a verse. Nonetheless it’s a fun and catchy track.

Next up is ‘Aibo’ featuring Bratty. This feels more like dreampop with a dose of grungy guitars. It’s a supercool combination and feels like a fresh addition to the mini-album.

‘Do you feel it like i touch’ starts off with a very soft intro. This is overall a lot softer than the previous tracks. It’s creates a very spacious soundscape while also feeling very intimate and tender. It’s dope.

‘Study’ feels like an interlude. This was a really cool listen and it’s a total club banger.

We close off the album with ‘mom’. I enjoyed the melody in this and the storytelling. It’s one of those melodies that will get stuck in your head.
