[Review] YENA – LOVE CATCHER

Our girl YENA is back with her new mini-album ‘LOVE CATCHER’. We’ve been (im)patiently waiting ever since seeing the teasers, because they looked simply amazing. Let’s dive right in!

LOVE CATCHER

We’re starting off with the title track ‘Catch Catch’. This is literally so much fun! It’s a hyper pop moment that is drenched in retro visuals and campness like Orange Caramel and Crayon Pop.

K-pop has been missing this sound, so it’s absolutely fabulous to have it back.

Next up is the track ‘Spring Fever’ featuring DIN DIN and Jung Hyung Don. This is a very cute electro pop track that feels like elevated fun. The features are a cool addition!

‘Sticker’ featuring MRCH is a bit slower and starts off with acoustic guitar. The beat gets pumped up a bit more into a pop rock inspired track.

The following track ‘April’s Cat’ is a lovely pop ballad with beautiful instrumentation and a very nice progression. It’s wholesome and Yena’s vocals shine.

The closing track ‘Question Marks’ is a collaborative track with Paul Kim. This jazzy ballad boasts stunning harmonies. What a lovely sound! I’m also obsessed with the jazz piano and the bass. It’s overall a super warm sounding track that ends the EP on a wholesome note.
