Behind the Walls
Written and co-directed by Kim Tae-jon and co-directed by Sharon S. Park, ‘Wall To Wall’ takes place in a seemingly ordinary apartment complex where the everyday annoyance of noisy neighbors becomes a terrifying obsession.
Our protagonist Woo-seong (Kang Ha-neul) is an exhausted everyman who has finally achieved what many dream of — buying his first home. But this accomplishment comes at a cost. He’s buried in debt from a mortgage loan whose interest rate has quietly skyrocketed, forcing him into grueling part-time delivery work just to stay afloat.
As if financial stress weren’t enough, Woo-seong’s life begins to unravel when neighbors start accusing him of making loud, disruptive noises at night. Ironically, he’s been dealing with the same issue — loud banging and footsteps coming from the apartment above his. Frustrated and sleep-deprived, Woo-seong decides to investigate, only to discover that each neighbor blames the one above them… leading him all the way to the top floor and the elusive homeowner Eun-hwa (Yeom Hye-ran).
Desperation Breeds Chaos
As tensions in the complex rise and Woo-seong’s personal and financial situations spiral out of control, he makes a desperate gamble: selling his apartment and investing everything in cryptocurrency. He dreams of a fresh start, free from debt, noise, and claustrophobic walls.
But that dream quickly collapses.
On the night he plans to sell his crypto and escape, the apartment is filled with chaos. Neighbors swarm his unit, accusing him of more noise. He’s framed. A violent altercation ensues, landing him in prison — the same day his investment vanishes. With nothing left, Woo-seong hits rock bottom.
Just when he considers ending his life, a neighbor named Jin-ho (Seo Hyun-woo) steps in, offering friendship. But beneath Jin-ho’s kindness lies something sinister — a dangerous past and dark intentions that threaten to destroy what’s left of Woo-seong’s life.
More Than Just a Thriller
‘Wall To Wall’ is more than a mystery — it’s a sobering commentary on the housing crisis, economic inequality, and mental health struggles in modern urban life.
