[Review] SF9 – About Love

SF9 return with new music a year after their last comeback, and this time it’s a special one. Celebrating their 10th anniversary, the group presents a release centered around ballads, a direction that promises to resonate deeply with listeners. Let’s dive into ‘About Love’.

About Love

The album opens with the title track ‘Love Comes Slowly’, a beautiful ballad built on a blend of synth, piano, and guitar. The song unfolds gently, allowing its emotional depth to grow over time. Rich vocals and soft harmonies carry the track, creating a heartfelt and immersive listening experience. Watch the live video below:

Fade Into Memories’ follows with a piano-driven arrangement and subtle R&B influences. The vocals here are powerful and emotionally charged, while the addition of drums and electric guitar adds depth and texture to the track.

We move fully into R&B territory with ‘You Think Too Much’. Dreamy and slightly sensual, the song stands out with its smooth atmosphere and touches of melodic rap, giving it a refreshing and modern edge.

Last of Us’ continues the dreamy tone but introduces a retro-inspired pop sound. The track flows effortlessly, blending nostalgic elements with a soft and polished delivery.

Hurt & Follow’ combines R&B and hip-hop within a ballad structure, gradually building intensity as it progresses. Its evolving arrangement and layered instrumentals make it one of the more dynamic tracks on the album.

By Your Side’ strips things back with a piano-led composition that delivers a deeply emotional moment. The rich vocal layering and delicate progression make the track feel cinematic, almost reminiscent of a film or OST, enhancing its emotional impact.

Closing the album is ‘Broken Way’, a rock ballad performed by Taeyang. This solo track reveals a different side of him, with raw vocals, powerful orchestration, and an intensity that leaves a lasting impression.

With ‘About Love’, SF9 take a step back into a more emotional and vocal-focused space, highlighting their strengths as artists. This anniversary release feels sincere and reflective, offering fans a meaningful and beautifully crafted listening experience.
