The girlies from IVE are back with their second full-length album ‘REVIVE+’. We’re super stoked, so let’s take a closer look!
REVIVE+
We start off the album with their first title track ‘BLACKHOLE’. This is a fun title track with stunning vocals. I also enjoyed their song description: “‘Blackhole’ is a space of nothingness where destruction and birth coexist, symbolizing both an end and a beginning. The recurring “flame” within the song functions not as destruction but as a spark of life that opens a new world.”
After that comes the pre-released ‘BANG BANG’ which was released about two weeks ago. Still a banger, by the way.
‘Hush’ comes up next and is a fun pop track with cool instrumentals and I really enjoyed the repetitive ‘hush’ during the chorus. It’s a cool listen!
‘Stuck in your head’ goes for a game OST vibe. It’s another soft pop track with cool synths and interesting sound bytes. I like how all of the previous tracks all smoothly fit together.
Next up is ‘Fireworks’. We’re going for hopeful and energetic with this one. The vocals are impressive and I thought the rap verse was smoothly incorporated.
We’re going for a dance pop moment with ‘HOT COFFEE’. Get your groove on folks, I couldn’t listen to this song while sitting still. I was shimmying during the chorus.
Those were all the group songs, after this come all of the solo tracks.
‘8’ is Wonyoung’s solo. We’re going for a dark and mysterious moment on top of EDM instrumentals and an intense tempo. Wonyoung wrote the lyrics for this one.
Gaeul’s solo is ‘Odd’. She co-wrote the song lyrics. This is a calm, guitar moment that feels very dreamy and is a refreshing listen.
‘SUPER ICY’ is Leeseo’s solo. We’re totally going clubbing to this track. It’s fun, powerful and the EDM instrumentals are a vibe.
LIZ’ track is ‘Unreal’. This retro pop rock moment has some cool guitars and a nice nillies feel to it.
REI’s solo is ‘In your heart’. This is a really cool track! It’s a DNB/digital core-based pop track that keeps accelerating. I absolutely love the chorus with the ‘glitches’. How fun!
The closing track and Yujin’s solo is ‘Force’. We’re going for a 2000s hip-hop meets pop moment and it’s honestly a vibe! It feels so nostalgic.
