[Review] ILLIT – I’LL LIKE YOU

The girls from ILLIT are back with their mini-album ‘I’LL LIKE YOU’. Let’s take a closer look!

I’LL LIKE YOU

We start off with the track ‘I’LL LIKE YOU’ after which the album was named. This is a medium pop track with soft vocals and a refreshing, cutesy energy. The chorus is a major earworm and I’ll be humming that for days. The synths in the chorus and the bits are so well placed, I loved it.

Next up is the title track ‘Cherish (my love)’. This is such a cute song! We’re going for some synth pop and this is just lovely! Honestly, a solid hook, catchy rhythm and lovely vocals make for a 10/10 pop track.

I literally have no idea what is happening in the music video, but this feels like one of the more creative videos we’ve seen this year.

‘IYKYK (If you know you know)’ is up next. This is a two step Garage genre according to the album description. I liked the synths a lot in this and the rap verses in this were great. The layering in this is so cool, I had to re-listen to it a couple of times to discover all of the different beats and synths.

‘Pimple’ is a medium tempo pop track. “The song reflects the characteristics of today’s teenagers who are not shy about expressing themselves and even use pimple patches as fashion items. Rather than just ignoring and hiding their own feelings, the song expresses a positive attitude of understanding that it’s because they like you and sticking a cute sticker on their troubled hearts.” The album description was too cute not to share.

The closing track is ‘Tick-Tack’. What a cool track! It’s a little crazy and there’s so much happening in the instrumentals but musically works just as well. The pace is fast and the 80s synths create such a unique vibe. Honestly, love this!
