DAY6 is back with their latest full-length album ‘The DECADE’. This is to celebrate their ten year debut, which is definitely cause for celebration!
The DECADE
We start off with the first of two title tracks: ‘Dream Bus’. This is quintessential DAY6 in my opinion. It’s a touch of pop punk and ” conveys a pledge not to let go of dreams like a bus handle that is tightly held even in the dry and busy reality.”
Next up is their second title track ‘INSIDE OUT’. In this one, they’re boldly saying “love me” and we’re getting that to an alternative rock sound with of course, great vocals and a solid progression.
The set design for the music video was also fantastic!
We’re going on a cinematic night out with ‘Sun, Stay Asleep’. This is a really fun track! The brassy synths are wonderful.
‘Disco Day’ throws in some disco vibes. I like the little claps and the happy vibe. The bridge though was a nice little moment.
Little bit of musical whiplash with the progression to ‘My Way’ which is a punk rock track. I am always in for a shouting chorus.
‘Before the Stars’ depicts “the journey that Sung Jin, Young K, Wonpil, and Dowoon took to stand in front of their numerous fans and the overwhelming emotions they encountered at the end.” It’s a British rock moment that will definitely tug at your heartstrings.
‘Take all my heart’ takes us back to 80s rock. I really enjoyed the guitars in this one.
Next up is ‘Dream Rider’. We’re following the “dream rider of dreams and hopes that shoots up powerfully!” The layering here is fantastic. I loved all the different synths and little soundbites.
‘So it’s the end’ feels like the last scene of an adventure movie. I really liked the energy and the vibe of this one, it sounds happy and the drum is popping off.
The closing track is ‘Our Season’. “It whispers that it hopes our love will last forever, like the ever-flowing seasons.” That line from the album description was super sweet, much like this track.
