[Review] CLOSE YOUR EYES – ETERNALT

The boys from CLOSE YOUR EYES officially debuted with their EP ‘ETERNALT’. The group consists of Jeon Min-wook, Ma Jingxiang, Jang Yeo-jun, Kim Sung-min, Song Seung-ho, Kenshin, and Seo Kyoung-bae. It was formed during the survival show ‘Project 7’. Let’s take a closer look!

ETERNALT

The album starts with the track ‘Close Your Eyes’. I really enjoyed the harp addition to the instrumentals. This created such a lovely, soft and ethereal ambience. ADORA wrote the lyrics for this one and co-composed the track as well. This is such a delicate track, I loved it.

After that comes ‘Subtitled’ which is a mid-tempo contemporary R&B and pop blend. I really enjoyed the acoustic instruments and the warm vocals. What a lovely track!

Next up is the title track ‘All my poetry‘. We’re getting a Y2K retro R&B track and honestly this is pretty amazing. I love how chill and laidback this feels, how earnest. What an unbelievably fresh sound.

‘How To Dance’ brings the pop rock to the album with a band sound and the message “let’s face the moments when inner darkness comes like rain that comes without warning and find a way to overcome it at our own pace. Just like a rainbow appears after the rain.”

After that comes ‘Laid Back’. It’s an easy-listening pop track that is an instant serotonin boost. There’s a cheerful piano and a fun bass. It’s fun!

‘To The Woods’ is an R&B track where they sing about a desire to return to the forest as a place of comfort. The groovy bass is everything and I would love to hear a live version of this, this would be such a chill live music moment.

Next up is ‘Stay 4 Good’. The acoustic guitar in the instrumental creates such a beautiful ambience. The vocals only elevate the vibe. This is kind of giving 90s boyband energy and it’s everything.

The closing track of the album is ‘Upside Down’. This is a bright and bubbly moment where they sing about a new love. It’s adorable.
