[Review] AB6IX – SALUTE

AB6IX is back with their new EP ‘SALUTE’. This is their third comeback this year, and by the visuals it looks very promising.

Let’s check out this EP.

SALUTE

MIRROR’ starts off the extended play and straight away we get rich arrangements, great vocals, EDM and synth mixed in one track. This track was co-written by Woojin, and it goes hard from start to end.

The title track ‘SALUTE’ is next, and in this track we get Daehwi rapping and I am loving it, is there anything he can’t do? I loved the intro of the marching band in the beginning of the music video, I wish they had done the same with the official audio.

This song has very theatrical instrumentals that fit fantastic with the concept of this album. I really like the delivery of lyrics and vocals. Daehwi and Woojin co-wrote this track. Check the music video below.

HEAVEN’ plays on the soft side with soft and kinda melancholic vocals. The arrangement of this song is emotional and I loved how the vocals were mixed so well. Emotional whiplash.

With a more R&B inspired vibe, ‘MAYBE’ plays, Woojin and Donghyun co-wrote this track, and it is just very cool. I loved the flow and the hook. It is an easy listen with clean vocals.

BLOOM’ is next with a mysterious feel to it, the whistling on the track was a nice touch. In general this song has a cool EDM inspired track perfect to vibe to. Daehwi took part in the composition and writing of this song.

A lovely piano solo starts off ‘BEHIND YOU’ and what a way to close this EP. Wholesome vocals, stunning orchestration take over in this song and it is a clean end for this release. This song’s layering is beautiful and the rap delivery was soft and heartfelt.

‘SALUTE’ represents a new chapter for AB6IX, and I liked how they really got involved in the production of this release.
