In this edition of Rapper In The Spotlight, we’re diving into the career of an artist who’s been around for a while but recently caught our attention again, Young Ko.
Early Career
Formerly known as Young West, Young Ko officially debuted in 2017 with the EP ‘#OKIDS’ under UNCUTPOINT. Early in his career, he quickly made waves in the Korean hip-hop scene, collaborating with some of the industry’s hottest names including Loco, Sik-K, Owen, nafla, and others.
Following his debut, Young Ko released a string of strong singles including ‘Fool You’ (featuring Loco), ‘MBST,’ ‘VLONE,’ and ‘MOON.’ He also dropped two impressive EPs ‘LIGHTNING VISION’ and ‘Neo World’, that further showcased his versatility and unique sound.
Rise in the Scene
By 2019, Young Ko had become a well-known name in Korea’s indie hip-hop scene. He continued his momentum with the single ‘Garçons Love,’ followed by ‘Blue’ and ‘Heart On Lock.’
Latest Work
After taking a break from music, Young Ko returned with the single album ‘the purge’, marking a new era in his artistry. With a darker tone and sharp production, this comeback showed a more mature and experimental side of him.
