EXO’s Baekhyun is back with a brand new EP, blessing us once more with his groovy and smooth vocals. ‘Delight’ is his second release as a soloist and we are thrilled to see the concept and style for this comeback. Let’s dive in!
Delight
The title track ‘Candy’ starts off this mini-album with a pop/electronic style. Baekhyun’s voice is sweet and soothing as always, this song feels super playful and happy. The hook is extremely catchy and the music video is loaded with colourful scenarios and some stunning visuals by Baekhyun.
‘R U Ridin’?’ plays smoothly from the very beginning and will have you grooving all the way till the very end. Can we just state the incredible vocalist he is? His voice can pull off any genre and I would listen to anything this guy sings. Vocal King.
A very soft keyboard melody starts ‘Bungee’, and this track will fit perfectly in any Lo-Fi/R&B playlist. The highlight of the song is definitely the bridge, Baekhyun’s flawless high notes and the piano accompaniment. In one word ‘perfection’.
On a more electronic note ‘Underwater’ rolls in, this track is way more EDM but still on the softer side. It is an easy listen, with a smooth flow and rhythm. ‘Poppin’ follows it with a similar electronic style and a backing track that is super dope.
‘Ghost’ is next with fantastic mixing and layering. This track flows smoothly and it is an auditory experience. The composition and instruments used complement Baekhyun’s stunning vocals. A masterpiece.
Closing this mini-album we have ‘Love Again’, written by Colde, this song is everything we expected and more. This pop ballad flows effortlessly with a charming guitar accompaniment and beautiful delivery of the lyrics.
Overall, Delight was a great surprise, it is a diverse release that shows a different side of Baekhyun as a singer and also reasserts his talent. You can listen to the full release below.
